Outside bloody trauma and beating hearts, my other love is food and cooking. Why have two blogs? Medical people are some of the most voracious eaters I know. I think the fire-rescue community is stereotyped as being kind of rough and tumble and not particularly gourmet. In fact, the opposite is true in my experience. Have you ever been to a good ol' firehouse chili cookoff? Ok, maybe chili isn't gourmet, but these people can cook! Most of my co-workers will gladly spend more time loving on the grill and dicing vegetables to perfection than they would checking their truck. As for in hospital, we give any group a run for their money when it comes to chowing down, albeit frequently eating out of a (clean) bedpan while standing at a patient's doorway because there's not much time to sit down and do anything else.
So I present my collection of recipes, sure to please every medic, doctor, firefighter, nurse, or damn hospital CEO!
